WAG talk:Wiki policy
From JumbaWiki
Article use
Just use this article to jot down initial thoughts and ew can clean it up and discuss as we go along. Then we can work out what's important and fix it later. Aussiepete 23:32, 28 June 2007 (EST)
Discussion
I'm not sure if this is the right place, but it would be nice to have somewhere with an overview of everything (with policies), ie
- Namespaces - what namespaces exist, and what is each one for? (main, User, JumbaWiki, Image, MediaWiki, Template, Help, Category, WAG, Archive, WIP, Proposed)
- Templates - what templates exist, and when should you use them?
- Categories - what categories exist, and what kinds of article should be included in each one

- Similar to this, I've thought of having a "cheat sheet" of sorts, where you can see each main template, with their titles, edit links etc, along with useful links to categories etc (which are all in special pages). I guess this article is completely open to discussion, and maybe sub pages discussing these issues if they're overly extensive. Keep it all here for now and if it gets too big we can split it up. Not really "policy" as such, but a collective of info. Aussiepete 23:06, 28 June 2007 (EST)
- In a sense it is policy, because it tells you what to put where --Twz 23:13, 28 June 2007 (EST)
JumbaWiki name space
I think JumbaWiki name space should be empty, in favour of WAG, or visa versa. Then the WAG category is no use if all WAG articles are together. I started a Wiki category, but if all management, maintenance, templates and wii related articles are all in JumbaWiki or WAG it makes sense to me. Aussiepete 08:57, 29 June 2007 (EST)
- I agree there are more namespaces than we need. I reckon JumbaWiki should stay, with public info privacy/disclaimer etc, and more internal wiki stuff to go in WAG. Maybe Help and WIP could also be merged into WAG? --Twz 12:26, 29 June 2007 (EST)
- Yeah I like that direction, more namespaces contributes to more confusion. I think JumbaWiki, Help etc are core namespaces, not sure if the names can be changed, I'm sure they can.
Disregarding your commetns above, here's my thoughts on how it might be setup, please discuss:
- Main (unchangable, default)
- User (unchangable, clearly labeled)
- JumbaWiki / WAG (WAG articles categorised as WAG, possible rename to just "wiki"?)
- MediaWiki (for sysops)
- Help (clear name, I don't think merge or change name, but what should it contain - just wiki help, or general jumba? Should guides be here)
- Proposed / WIP (WIP articles categorised as WIP)

- I think Help should be just about wiki editing (everything in the main space is general help). Not sure about merging JumbaWiki/WAG. As you say JumbaWiki may be fixed as the name of the wiki. JumbaWiki is for info about the wiki for the general public, WAG is info for wiki editors. Otherwise where could Disclaimers / Privacy policies etc go? --Twz 12:57, 29 June 2007 (EST)
