WAG:Wiki policy
From JumbaWiki
This wiki policy is to be used as a basis of all discussion, structure and direction of the Jumba Support Wiki.
Contents |
Goal of the wiki
The Jumba Wiki should contain simple articles about topics directly related to Jumba services and web-based management and should not be a Wikipedia clone.
Suitable content
There are literally thousands of computer and Internet terms, phrases, technologies and guides but the wiki needs to focus on providing content that is of use to Jumba customers, with hosting, domains, broadband and other minor Jumba services. All other topics could be collated in an article but linked to further resources or not included at all.
Namespaces
Main namespace
This is bulk of the wiki where most articles are kept. This namespace is the default area for search results, users must manually choose other namespaces to search in.
- Moving articles between namespaces
Articles that are moved from one namespace to another might have incoming links, and when moved will become redirects. Decision hasn't been made on whether these redirects should remain or be removed, and may depend on the specific namespaces in question. Please discuss.
Talk/Discussion
Discussion should be kept as much as possible about the corresponding article. If discussion becomes off-topic, it should be moved and linked to the related article discussion.
User pages
Although you are at liberty to upload personal photos and text, keep user pages wiki related with useful interlinking wiki articles, resources, personal websites related to Jumba, or resources aiding the wiki content.
JumbaWiki
General information about this wiki - privacy policy, disclaimers etc. It is being considered whether this namespace should be merged with WAG, an area for all maintenance or structure of the wiki. JumbaWiki:Basics should be in Help namespace?
Image
All uploaded images go into this namespace.
MediaWiki
This is a system namespace for global CSS, Javascript etc. and general management of all alerts shown on the wiki, only available for sysops to modify.
Template
This namespace contains all the templates used in other articles.
Help
Articles that provide help and information about wiki editing. although Help:Contents is currently a mix of wiki+general links!
Category
This namespace contains all the categories for logically grouping other articles together.
WAG
The WAG (wiki action group) namespace is for all structural or discussion articles related to maintaining the wiki. This includes disambiguation, redirect discussion, stubs, user accounts and custom template and categories for maintaining articles.
Archive
This namespace is used for articles that are no longer relevant to the wiki but have had significant contribution or content. Rather then deleting some articles, they can be moved to the archive namespace. It is to be decided if links within the main namespace should link here. Please discuss
WIP
The WIP (work in progress) namespace was intended to be used in place of "Proposed" but decision was deadlocked. It should be considered that the Proposed namespace be used, wit hall articles in this space be under Category:WIP. The intention for use of this space was to have articles with significant content or direction but not ready for release on the main namespace. Proposed articles of significant size or contribution are generally released to the main namespace, but WIP is for working articles such as Archive:Main Page wiki and Jumba Services where content is significant or it's a conflict of currently existing article. This was to differentiate the articles sitting in management space WAG and Proposed.
Proposed
The proposed namespace is for all stub articles or orphan articles that potentially have a place in the wiki but need to be expanded before it can be used as an acceptable article. Not all stubs should be moved to this area, particularly articles belonging to a large group or collective (eg. articles within cPanel options).
- Redirects to proposed namespace
Articles that are moved to the proposed namespace might have incoming links, and when moved will become redirects. Decision hasn't been made on whether these redirects should remain or be removed. (along with all other namespaces - should the main namespace link across namespaces?) Please discuss.
Templates & Categories
All pages, templates and categories should be placed in a related category for articles to be grouped and manageable.
