ummm...
Not sure if i'm doing this right LOL
I added a page for SMTP but i think i've stuffed up as there seems to be some other reference to smtp on the mail page or something cause stuff redirects there - I trust you'll be able to fix it without too much trouble :)
Think i'll stick to posting in the forums LOL
thanks aussiepete
Thanks for the wiki membership upgrade - I'll try not to stuff up too much! --Twz 00:04, 9 June 2007 (EST)
- I've noticed you doing bulk user banning - how do you identify a bunch of spammers like that? --Twz 00:35, 9 June 2007 (EST)
- Is there a way to find recently registered users, or do you just go through the Special:Listusers manually? That would be a pain! --Twz 15:00, 9 June 2007 (EST)
And thanks for the award! I've been fairly active on the wiki in recent weeks, but hopefully I'll come to my senses soon - I have lots of real work to do! --Twz 11:45, 19 June 2007 (EST)
- I can't have an award if you don't have one!
User registration CAPTCHA
I'm inclined to put up with the spam for now - the login page looks a bit too dodgy (confusing). Or maybe we could add an apology and explanation on the page (and create Special:Captcha/help). Do you know how effective this will be; apparently some bots are smart enough to work out the calculation --Twz 16:20, 12 June 2007 (EST)
- Your decision really - you've been putting up with it a lot longer than me --Twz 16:36, 12 June 2007 (EST)
extensions
Those extensions all sound good (Captcha, Cite, SpecialUserScore, Newuserlog) "..will be added with the new mediawiki update" - when is that happening? --Twz 17:01, 12 June 2007 (EST)
WAG collaboration
Sounds like a great idea, but maybe after we've updated the Main Page and WAG:Jumba Services? --Twz 22:11, 17 June 2007 (EST)
- When you contact me via my talk page, it seems more logical for me to answer on my talk page - but then you might not see it - what's the protocol here? --Twz 22:14, 17 June 2007 (EST)
Real articles
I can get a list of all pages and redirects, but is there any way of listing all pages that are NOT redirects? (I'm watching your talk page so you can reply here) --Twz 23:53, 20 June 2007 (EST)
- You can try any of these: Oldest pages, Popular pages, Short pages, Long pages - which all list the main articles by different order (I think this excludes redirects, otherwise I'm not sure. Also, be careful when moving articles and setting up redirects as a redirect might go to another redirect. Check Special:DoubleRedirects to fix them. Aussiepete 08:44, 21 June 2007 (EST)
- Thanks for that. I think I've been careful when moving articles and I always check What Links Here --Twz 11:35, 21 June 2007 (EST)
- Sorry to update an archive page, but I thought this should be with the above question. I've just realised that Special:Allpages shows redirects in italics. --Twz 01:16, 28 June 2007 (EST)
JavaScript_Basics
Something has happened at the bottom of JavaScript Basics - not sure what it should be --Twz 23:29, 21 June 2007 (EST)
- Amazing, very well spotted. How did you pick that one up. I thought I might have made the typo but had no hope in ever finding it easily... Aussiepete 00:10, 22 June 2007 (EST)
- I saw you had updated a million pages, and just looked at a few of them - lucky I picked up that one! --Twz 00:14, 22 June 2007 (EST)
Scalix
I noticed you deleted Scalix from a couple of pages. Should it be deleted everywhere? Two pages still mention it: Jumba and Jumba_servers --Twz 11:49, 22 June 2007 (EST)
"Invisible" template
What do you think of the idea of making a template that doesn't show anything on the page, but we can use for keeping an eye on articles? For example, the Jumba Forum Polls page currently has the {update} template that puts "this should be updated" at the top, even if it is currently up to date. The idea is to be able to go to the template to see a list of "keep an eye on" articles, but the articles themselves look clean. Am I making any sense? --Twz 13:52, 22 June 2007 (EST)
- The idea is to notify people that the page may be outdated. The way of doing this and keeping the page clean is by placing the template on the talk page. This keeps the article clean, still notifies people that updates need to be made, and tags talk pages. Aussiepete 14:04, 22 June 2007 (EST)
- That sounds reasonable. Is it ok with you if I move the {update} on Polls to its talk page? --Twz 14:16, 22 June 2007 (EST)
- I'd probably move all WAG templates to talk pages. But I wanted to make it clear for users to know that info is changing, to be deleted etc. Go ahead for the polls page, no problem. Aussiepete 14:22, 22 June 2007 (EST)
- Done this, but the template gets confused and links to Talk_talk: Do we need a special {update} template for Talk pages to avoid this? --Twz 14:29, 22 June 2007 (EST)
