ASP.NET is a Microsoft web-application programming language. Code can be writen code in two languages, C# or VB.NET - however there is no difference in functionality between the languages.
Traditionally, ASP.NET is used in conjunction with a Microsoft SQL Server database - although it can connect to any ODBC compliant SQL server, including MySQL and PostgreSQL.
