The index manager will allow you to turn indexes on or off for a directory. If indexes are off, people will not be able to see what files are in a directory that lacks an index file.

To toggle indexes for a directory

Click thumbnails for more detailed view.
  • Select the folder you wish to protect by clicking on its name. You can navigate by clicking on icons.
  • You might for example, want to protect people from getting to a images folder. Click on the images name.
  • Chose what type of indexing you want.
    • Default System Setting: What every folder is set to when created. It is usually Fancy Indexing.
    • No indexes: The standard 403 Forbidden error message.
    • Standard Indexing (text only): Gives a standard directory listing of all the files in that folder.
    • Fancying Indexing (graphics): The most common form of indexing. Shows a directory listing, but uses images as icons for the files.
  • Click Save.
