Guides and standards

Where can we put w3schools and the w3c validator.

I've made a title "Guides and Standards" this can also link to the main API sites for PHP, MySQL, and all other languages. There's also a few for CSS/XML validation, and other offshore applications. Aussiepete

merge / Delete discussion

The entire wiki is about links and resources. I think the links on this page should be merged/moved to the articles they apply to, eg Web Design, CSS, etc. --Twz 22:08, 24 June 2007 (EST)

Strong keep: I guess I do agree partially, and that info is being duplicated a bit, but to me this is a one-stop ultimate bookmark list of all useful resources. Otherwise I have to try and remember if there was a resource in CSS or PHP or HTML or whatever the topic was and it's not all together. I've just always really liked to keep things together, that's almost the point of the wiki too, to collate all known data about a topic or interest and have it all together. Delete: If you're looking for a resource for CSS, go to the CSS page. You're unlikely to want resources for CSS, PHP and HTML at the same time. You say "collate all known data about a topic" but this page is about multiple topics. --Twz 13:51, 25 June 2007 (EST)
It's collating links and resources in one spot. Otherwise they're all over the wiki in 20 different spots, you have to hunt for the resources you want. Aussiepete 14:07, 25 June 2007 (EST)
By that argument, we should put all external links in the wiki onto one page :-) --Twz 14:15, 25 June 2007 (EST)
Only those that are most significant to the topic. I don't expect this article to be a "complete" list of 1,000 resources, I see it as a top 5-10 of each main topic, a listing of some of the most useful and most visited resources. For further reading and information you can go to the article for each topic for further specific references. Am I making absolutely no sense? :) Aussiepete 14:19, 25 June 2007 (EST)
You are making sense, but I think I am too. It'd be nice to get some arguments from other people. Perhaps we should just agree to differ! --Twz 14:23, 25 June 2007 (EST)
Delete (and add to their respective articles): I'd tend to follow Twz's logic as well - if I wanted something on CSS I'd head to that page first and follow the links from there.--Scott T 14:42, 25 June 2007 (EST)
OK, OK :) I think it is nice to have it all together, and the best resources, but why replicate it when you can go to the article of your choice. I guess I don't mind (but I do!!), but if the page is deleted, make sure all the links are all on the corresponding articles. Aussiepete 16:11, 25 June 2007 (EST)
Pete - maybe you could duplicate this page in your User space for your own use? I'll wait a while for any other comments before doing anything. --Twz 16:22, 25 June 2007 (EST)
I do get very attached don't I :) That's why I set up the Archive namespace - so people who put effort into an article like this don't get offended. But then it just takes up space. I really do like the idea of having individual resource areas in our user space, then we can almost share our resources on an individual basis rather then communally. Archive preparation

All links have been added to other appropriate articles, in prep for archiving this article --Twz 00:16, 29 June 2007 (EST) Good job, sorry to make it difficult wanting to keep this article :) Aussiepete 08:54, 29 June 2007 (EST)
